Joining Our Church

To Our Guests
God has blessed the body of Parkway Baptist Church.  If God is leading you to be part of the Parkway fellowship, you are encouraged to follow the leading of the Holy Spirit.

When do I join or make a decision?
At the close of every worship service, a hymn is sung and the ministers and the Missions Specialist stand facing the congregation. Walk to one of them at this time. Tell him you want to make a decision for Christ and indicate your desire to join the Church. This is the invitation.

What is next?
You will be introduced to one of our deacons who will then talk with you about your decision privately.

What about my children?
When a child is ready to make a decision he/she may come forward during the invitation. Our trained workers will deal sensitively with the child. Parents are then instructed concerning the next step.

Why do I need to be a member of a local church?
Acts 2:41 speaks of those who were added to their number. Definite affiliation gives a sense of belonging, loyalty, and commitment. It helps the church and the mission to know whom we can count on for service and leadership.

How do I join the Church?

  1. By professing faith in Christ and following Him in water baptism.
  2. By transferring your letter from another Southern Baptist Church.
  3. By statement of your faith in Christ and that you have been baptized by immersion after salvation.
  4. By statement from another denomination that does not practice baptism by immersion. This is a statement of faith in Christ and a willingness to be baptized by immersion.

What about college students? We have a special program in which college students can become associate members.

I still have some questions. God loves you and we really care about you. If we can help, please call 314-434-2310.
